Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty,1Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.2Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind;3Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers.4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever.5Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains.6Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away.7At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them.8They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth.9Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains;10He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst.11They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They lift up their voices among the branches.12By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.13He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth,14He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
And wine which makes man's heart glad, So that he may make his face glisten with oil, And food which sustains man's heart.15And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
The trees of the LORD drink their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,16The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
Where the birds build their nests, And the stork, whose home is the fir trees.17Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
The high mountains are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the shephanim.18The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting.19He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about.20Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God.21The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens.22The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Man goes forth to his work And to his labor until evening.23Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
O LORD, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions.24O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
There is the sea, great and broad, In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great.25So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
There the ships move along, And Leviathan, which You have formed to sport in it.26There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
They all wait for You To give them their food in due season.27These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.28That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust.29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.30Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Let the LORD be glad in His works;31The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.33I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be glad in the LORD.34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Let sinners be consumed from the earth And let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!35Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
