Psalm 77
KJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew International Version
To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.1For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.2When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.3I remembered you, God, and I groaned; I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.5I thought about the former days, the years of long ago;
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.6I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?7"Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?8Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.9Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?"
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.10Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.11I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.12I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?13Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.14You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.15With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.16The waters saw you, God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed.
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.17The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth.
The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.18Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.19Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
