To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. | 1For the choir director: with the flutes. A Davidic psalm. Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing. |
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. | 2Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to You. |
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. | 3At daybreak, LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. |
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. | 4For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with You. |
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. | 5The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all evildoers. |
Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. | 6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery. |
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. | 7But I enter Your house by the abundance of Your faithful love; I bow down toward Your holy temple in reverential awe of You. |
Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. | 8 LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my adversaries; make Your way straight before me. |
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. | 9For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues. |
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. | 10Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against You. |
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. | 11But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May You shelter them, and may those who love Your name boast about You. |
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. | 12For You, LORD, bless the righteous one; You surround him with favor like a shield. |
