King James Bible | Holman Christian Standard Bible |
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. | 1Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won't be tempted. |
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. | 2Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. | 3For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. | 4But each person should examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else. |
For every man shall bear his own burden. | 5For each person will have to carry his own load. |
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. | 6The one who is taught the message must share all his good things with the teacher. |
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. | 7Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, |
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. | 8because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. |
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. | 9So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. |
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. | 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. |
Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. | 11Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. |
As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. | 12Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. | 13For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves; however, they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. |
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. | 14But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. |
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. | 15For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. |
And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. | 16May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy to the Israel of God! |
From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. | 17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body scars for the cause of Jesus. |
Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. | 18Brothers, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
