Later, the LORD instructed Moses, | 1Then the LORD said to Moses, |
"Tell the Israelis that | 2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: After you enter the land that I am giving you as a home |
when you enter the land where you'll be living that I'm about to give you, you are to make an offering by fire to the LORD, either a burnt offering, a sacrificial offering to fulfill a vow, or a voluntary offering at the appointed time, to make a pleasing aroma to the LORD either from your cattle or from your flocks. | 3and you present an offering made by fire to the LORD from the herd or flock to produce a pleasing aroma to the LORD—either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, for a special vow or freewill offering or appointed feast— |
The offeror is to bring the oblation to the LORD, containing one tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with one fourth of a hin of olive oil. | 4then the one presenting his offering to the LORD shall also present a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a quarter hin of olive oil. |
Also prepare one fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering or for the sacrifice of each lamb. | 5With the burnt offering or sacrifice of each lamb, you are to prepare a quarter hin of wine as a drink offering. |
"For a ram, prepare a grain offering consisting of two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one third of a hin of olive oil. | 6With a ram you are to prepare a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of olive oil, |
Now as for your drink offering, offer one third of a hin of wine as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 7and a third of a hin of wine as a drink offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
"When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or for peace offerings to the LORD, | 8When you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice to fulfill a vow or as a peace offering to the LORD, |
then the bullock is to be presented accompanied by a meal offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil. | 9present with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of olive oil. |
"As for drink offerings, offer half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire is a pleasing aroma to the LORD. | 10Also present half a hin of wine as a drink offering. It is an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
Do this for each bullock, ram, male lamb, or goat. | 11This is to be done for each bull, ram, lamb, or goat. |
Depending on the number of offerings that you prepare, do for each one according to their number. | 12This is how you must prepare each one, no matter how many. |
Every native born person is to do these things, bringing an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD." | 13Everyone who is native-born shall prepare these things in this way when he presents an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. |
"Now, if a resident alien lives with you, or whoever else is with you throughout your generations, let him make an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. Just as you do, so is he to do. | 14And for the generations to come, if a foreigner residing with you or someone else among you wants to prepare an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the LORD, he is to do exactly as you do. |
There is to be a single standard for your community, one statute for you and the resident alien who lives with you, a long lasting statute throughout your generations. Just as you do, so is the resident alien to do in the presence of the LORD. | 15The assembly is to have the same statute both for you and for the foreign resident; it is a permanent statute for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the LORD. |
There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the resident alien who lives with you." | 16The same law and the same ordinance will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing with you.” |
Then the LORD instructed Moses: | 17Then the LORD said to Moses, |
"Tell the Israelis that when they enter the land that I'm about to bring you to, | 18“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land to which I am bringing you |
when you have eaten some of the bread that the land produces, you are to offer a raised offering to the LORD. | 19and you eat the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering to the LORD. |
You are to offer a cake made from the first of your bread dough as a raised offering to the LORD. Offer it as a raised offering right off your threshing floor. | 20From the first of your dough, you are to lift up a cake as a contribution; offer it just like an offering from the threshing floor. |
From then on, throughout your generations give the first of your bread dough to the LORD." | 21Throughout your generations, you are to give the LORD an offering from the first of your dough. |
"Here's what you are to do when you all go astray and fail to observe all these commands that the LORD had spoken to Moses, | 22Now if you stray unintentionally and do not obey all these commandments that the LORD has spoken to Moses— |
including anything that the LORD commanded you by the authority of Moses, starting from the day the LORD commanded Moses and continuing through your generations. | 23all that the LORD has commanded you through Moses from the day the LORD gave them and continuing through the generations to come— |
When anything is done without the knowledge of the congregation, the entire community is to offer one young bull for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD, along with its meal and drink offerings offered according to procedure, and one male goat for a sin offering. | 24and if it was done unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, then the whole congregation is to prepare one young bull as a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a sin offering. |
Then the priest is to make atonement for the entire community of the Israelis, and they will be forgiven for inadvertent sins. They are to bring their offering, an offering made by fire to the LORD, as well as their sin offering, into the LORD's presence on account of their error. | 25The priest is to make atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be forgiven; for the sin was unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by fire and a sin offering, presented before the LORD for their unintentional sin. |
Then the entire community of Israel will be forgiven, along with the resident alien who lives among them, since all the people will have sinned inadvertently." | 26Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be forgiven, since it happened to all the people unintentionally. |
"Now when one person sins inadvertently, then he is to bring a one year old female goat for a sin offering. | 27Also, if one person sins unintentionally, he is to present a year-old female goat as a sin offering. |
Then, in the LORD's presence, the priest is to make atonement for the person who sinned inadvertently, that is, to make atonement on his behalf so he may be forgiven. | 28And the priest shall make atonement before the LORD on behalf of the person who erred by sinning unintentionally; and when atonement has been made for him, he will be forgiven. |
You are to have a single law for the one who does things inadvertently, whether for the native-born Israeli or for the resident alien who lives among you." | 29You shall have the same law for the one who acts in error, whether he is a native-born Israelite or a foreigner residing among you. |
"But if some person acts with a high hand, whether a native-born or a resident alien, he blasphemes God, and that person is to be eliminated from among his people. | 30But the person who sins defiantly, whether a native or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD. That person shall be cut off from among his people. |
Because he has despised the law of the LORD and has broken his commands, that person is certainly to be eliminated. His iniquity will remain on him." | 31He shall certainly be cut off, because he has despised the word of the LORD and broken His commandment; his guilt remains on him.” |
As it was when the Israelis were in the wilderness, they found a man who was gathering wood on the Sabbath day. | 32While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. |
The ones who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and all the people. | 33Those who found the man gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation, |
Then they confined him until it could be declared what should be done to him. | 34and because it had not been declared what should be done to him, they placed him in custody. |
Then the LORD told Moses, "The man is certainly to die. The entire community is to stone him to death outside the camp." | 35And the LORD said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death. The whole congregation is to stone him outside the camp.” |
So the whole community brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones so that he died, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. | 36So the whole congregation took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD had commanded Moses. |
Later, the LORD instructed Moses, | 37Later, the LORD said to Moses, |
"Tell the Israelis that they are to make tassels at the edges of their garments throughout their generations and that they are to put a violet cord on the tassels at the edges of their garments. | 38“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that throughout the generations to come they are to make for themselves tassels for the corners of their garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. |
That way, when you see the tassel, you'll remember all the commands of the LORD and you'll observe them. Then you won't seek your own interests and desires that lead you to be unfaithful. | 39These will serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the commandments of the LORD, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by following your own heart and your own eyes. |
Therefore, remember to observe all my commands and to be holy in the presence of your God. | 40Then you will remember and obey all My commandments, and you will be holy to your God. |
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God." | 41I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God.” |
