Christian Standard Bible | New International Version |
Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won't be tempted. | 1Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. |
Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | 2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. | 3If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. |
Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. | 4Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, |
For each person will have to carry his own load. | 5for each one should carry their own load. |
Let the one who is taught the word share all his good things with the teacher. | 6Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. |
Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, | 7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. |
because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. | 8Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. |
Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. | 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. |
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. | 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. |
Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. | 11See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand! |
Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. | 12Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves, and yet they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. | 13Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. |
But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. | 14May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. | 15Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. |
May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy even to the Israel of God! | 16Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule--to the Israel of God. |
From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. | 17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. |
Brothers and sisters, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. | 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen. |
