Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.1Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.
Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function,4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function,
in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.5so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another.
According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one's faith;6We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith;
if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching;7if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.9Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.
Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another.
Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord.11Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.
Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.13Share with the saints who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.14Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.15Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone's eyes.17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody.
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.18If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God's wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.19Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”
But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.20On the contrary, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
