1Paul, a bond servant of Jesus Christ, a called apostle having been placed apart for the gospel of God,
2which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, And having been determined the Son of God in miraculous power according to the Spirit of holiness, by resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ, the Lord of us;
3concerning His Son, having come of the seed of David according to flesh.

5Through whom we have taken hold of grace and apostleship (commissioning) unto compliance (to hear beneath) to the faith among all non-Jew ethnicities, on behalf of His name:
6In whom are you also called of Jesus Christ: 7To all the ones that be in Rome, beloved of God, called saints: Grace to you to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 8First indeed, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is being heralded in the whole world. 9For God is indeed my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, as how unintermittingly (incessantly) I am making mention (remembrance) of you always in my prayers; 10Beseeching, if by what means now at one time or another I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come to you. 11For I am indeed longing to see you, that I may impart a share unto you of some (any) spiritual (pnuematikon) grace endowment (charisma), that you may be firmly made fast; 12That moreover is, that I may be affirmatively urged together among you through the faith both of you and me. 13Moreover, I am not willing that you be ignorant, brothers, that oftentimes I purposed to come to you and I was prevented until the present that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the other ethnicities. 14I am a debtor to both the Greeks and to the barbarians (uncivilized foreigners that do not speak Greek or Latin); to both the wise (learned) and to the unthinking (not understanding, dense, foolish). 15So, as for me, there is eager readiness to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that is believing; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17For in it is the righteousness (justness) of God revealed out from faith to faith: as it has been written moreover, The righteous (just, judicially approved righteous) will be living out of faith. 18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against each and every irreverence and injustice of men, who suppress the straightforward truth in injustice; 19Because that which may be known of God is clearly apparent within them; for God has made it apparent (illuminated) to them. 20For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly discerned, being inherently understood by the things that are made, even both His eternal power and divinity; so that they are without a defensible rationale: 21Because that, having known God, they neither esteemed Him glorious nor were thankful to Him as God; but they became vain (aimless, pointless) in their imaginations (back and forth reasonings), and their incoherent, uncomprehending heart was obscured (darkened). 22Professing to be wise (learned, cultivated, skilled, clever) they became fools (morons, insipid, stupid, tainted), 23and they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into a resemblance of a representation of corruptible man, and winged creatures, and four-footeds, and creeping creatures (reptiles). 24Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their own hearts to uncleanness (mixed impurity), to dishonor their own bodies between themselves; 25who changed the straightforward truth of God into a falsehood, and revered and offered divine service to the creation more than the One having created it, who is blessed to the eons! Amen. 26Because of this God gave them up to dishonorable, befalling, depraved passions (pathos- depraved pathology): for even their women (females with nursing breasts) did change the natural use (in a sexual sense) into that which is contrary to nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use (in a sexual sense) of the woman, were inflamed in their craving one toward another; men with men- their unseemly indecency working out, and receiving the recompense which was inevitably fitting of their deviant error in themselves. 28And as they did not see fit to possess God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a failed reasoning, to do those things which are unfitting. 29Being made full with every kind of injustice, pain laboring trouble, covetous greed, malicious disposition; full of spite (ill will toward others, grudge, envy, glad for others misfortune), murder (unjustified slaughter), strife (contentious, ready to fight), deceit (guile, treachery, baiting), malevolence (evil-mindedness, vicious disposition, malignity) ; gossips (secret slanderers, whisperers), 30defamers (slanderous, backbiters), hateful of God, insolent (damaging to others by lashing out with a nasty spirit), arrogant (disdainfully proud), boastful (wandering vagabond boasting to those foolish to take him seriously) ; inventors of evil things, unwilling to be persuaded by parents (stubborn disobedience); 31foolish (incoherent in comprehension), untrustworthy (untrue to an agreement), unaffectionate (devoid of natural affection), implacable (unable to be appeased or mitigated) , unmerciful (cruel, without compassion); 32Who having known the just pronouncement of God, that they which regularly commit such things are deserving of death, not only them that regularly commit such, but also those that join in identifying with and consenting (well seeming) of them committing such. |
