The Parable of the Wicked Tenants
(Matthew 21:33–46; Luke 20:9–18)

1And He began to speak to them in parables, "A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country. 2And, at the season, he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard. 3And, taking him, they beat him, and sent him away empty. 4And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and dishonored. 5And he sent another; and him they killed; and many others, beating some, and killing some. 6He had yet one, a beloved son; he sent him to them last, saying, 'They will pay deference to my son.' 7But those husbandmen said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' 8And, taking him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. 9What, therefore, will the lord of the vineyard do! He will come, and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

10Did ye never read the Scripture, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same became the head of a corner;

11this was from the Lord, and is marvelous in our eyes?"

12And they were seeking to lay hold of Him; and they feared the multitude; for they knew that He spake the parable against them; and, leaving Him, they went away.

Paying Taxes to Caesar
(Matthew 22:15–22; Luke 20:19–26)

13And they send to Him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they may entrap Him in speech. 14And, coming, they say to Him, "Teacher, we know that Thou art true, and carest not for any one; for Thou lookest not into the face of men, but in truth teachest the way of God. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? 15Shall we give, or shall we not give?" But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why are ye tempting Me? Bring Me a denary, that I may see it." 16And they brought it. And He saith to them, "Whose is this image and inscription?" And they said to Him, "Caesar's." 17And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God." And they wondered exceedingly at Him.

The Sadducees and the Resurrection
(Matthew 22:23–33; Luke 20:27–40)

18And there come to Him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they were asking Him, saying, 19"Teacher, Moses wrote to us, 'If any man's brother die, and leave a wife behind, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.' 20There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife; and, dying, left no seed. 21And the second took her, and died, leaving no seed; and the third likewise. 22And the seven left no seed. Last of all the woman also died. 23In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her as a wife." 24Jesus said to them, "Is it not on this account that ye err, because ye know not the Scriptures, nor the power of God? 25For, when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels in Heaven. 26But, concerning the dead, that they are raised, did ye not read in the book of Moses, at the 'Bush,' how God spake to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' 27He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye do greatly err."

The Greatest Commandment
(Matthew 22:34–40)

28And one of the scribes, coming near, hearing them discussing together, knowing that He answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is first of all?" 29Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel; the Lord is our God, the Lord is One; 30and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31A second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." 32The scribe said to Him, "Well, Teacher, Thou didst say truly that He is One, and there is not another beside Him; 33and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as himself, is much more than all the whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices." 34And Jesus, seeing that he answered discreetly, said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." And no one any more dared to question Him.

Whose Son Is the Christ?
(Matthew 22:41–46; Luke 20:41–44)

35And Jesus, answering, said, while teaching in the temple, "How do the scribes say that the Christ is David's Son?

36David himself said in the Holy Spirit, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on My right hand, until I put Thy enemies underneath Thy feet.'

37David himself calls Him Lord; and whence is He his Son?" And the great multitude heard Him gladly.

Beware of the Scribes
(Luke 20:45–47)

38And in His teaching He said, "Beware of the scribes, who wish to walk about in long robes and have salutations in the marketplaces, 39and the first seats in the synagogues, and the first places at the feasts; 40who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers; these shall receive greater condemnation."

The Widow’s Offering
(Luke 21:1–4)

41And, haring taken a seat over against the treasury, He was beholding how the multitude cast money into the treasury; and many who were rich cast in much. 42And one poor widow, coming, cast in two mites, which is a farthing. 43And, calling to Him His disciples, He said to them, "Verily I say to you, this poor widow cast in more than all who are casting into the treasury; 44for they all did cast in out of their abundance; but she out of her want cast in all that she had?her whole living."
