New Living Translation | King James Bible |
What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion. We will fulfill our vows to you, | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. |
for you answer our prayers. All of us must come to you. | 2O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. |
Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all. | 3Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. |
What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What festivities await us inside your holy Temple. | 4Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. |
You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas. | 5By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea: |
You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. | 6Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power: |
You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. | 7Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people. |
Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy. | 8They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice. |
You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so. | 9Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. |
You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops. | 10Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof. |
You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. | 11Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. |
The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy. | 12They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. |
The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy! | 13The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. |
