New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. | 1Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. |
Why let the nations say, “Where is their God?” | 2Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? |
Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. | 3But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. |
Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. | 4Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. |
They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. | 5They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: |
They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. | 6They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: |
They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. | 7They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. |
And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. | 8They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. |
O Israel, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 9O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. |
O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 10O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. |
All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 11Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. |
The LORD remembers us and will bless us. He will bless the people of Israel and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron. | 12The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. |
He will bless those who fear the LORD, both great and lowly. | 13He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. |
May the LORD richly bless both you and your children. | 14The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. |
May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth. | 15Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. |
The heavens belong to the LORD, but he has given the earth to all humanity. | 16The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. |
The dead cannot sing praises to the LORD, for they have gone into the silence of the grave. | 17The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. |
But we can praise the LORD both now and forever! Praise the LORD! | 18But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD. |
