They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. | 9Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, |
| 10For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. | 10but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God. |
| 11Women should learn quietly and submissively. | 11A woman should learn in silence with full submission. |
| 12I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. | 12I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent. |
| 13For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. | 13For Adam was created first, then Eve. |
| 14And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. | 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed. |
| 15But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty. | 15But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good judgment. |
