New Living Translation | Christian Standard Bible |
Let all that I am praise the LORD. O LORD my God, how great you are! You are robed with honor and majesty. | 1My soul, bless the LORD! LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with majesty and splendor. |
You are dressed in a robe of light. You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens; | 2He wraps himself in light as if it were a robe, spreading out the sky like a canopy, |
you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds. You make the clouds your chariot; you ride upon the wings of the wind. | 3laying the beams of his palace on the waters above, making the clouds his chariot, walking on the wings of the wind, |
The winds are your messengers; flames of fire are your servants. | 4and making the winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. |
You placed the world on its foundation so it would never be moved. | 5He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be shaken. |
You clothed the earth with floods of water, water that covered even the mountains. | 6You covered it with the deep as if it were a garment; the water stood above the mountains. |
At your command, the water fled; at the sound of your thunder, it hurried away. | 7At your rebuke the water fled; at the sound of your thunder they hurried away-- |
Mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed. | 8mountains rose and valleys sank--to the place you established for them. |
Then you set a firm boundary for the seas, so they would never again cover the earth. | 9You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again. |
You make springs pour water into the ravines, so streams gush down from the mountains. | 10He causes the springs to gush into the valleys; they flow between the mountains. |
They provide water for all the animals, and the wild donkeys quench their thirst. | 11They supply water for every wild beast; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. |
The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees. | 12The birds of the sky live beside the springs; they make their voices heard among the foliage. |
You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor. | 13He waters the mountains from his palace; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of your labor. |
You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth— | 14He causes grass to grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, producing food from the earth, |
wine to make them glad, olive oil to soothe their skin, and bread to give them strength. | 15wine that makes human hearts glad--making his face shine with oil--and bread that sustains human hearts. |
The trees of the LORD are well cared for— the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. | 16The trees of the LORD flourish, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. |
There the birds make their nests, and the storks make their homes in the cypresses. | 17There the birds make their nests; storks make their homes in the pine trees. |
High in the mountains live the wild goats, and the rocks form a refuge for the hyraxes. | 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for hyraxes. |
You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. | 19He made the moon to mark the festivals; the sun knows when to set. |
You send the darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. | 20You bring darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals stir. |
Then the young lions roar for their prey, stalking the food provided by God. | 21The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. |
At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. | 22The sun rises; they go back and lie down in their dens. |
Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening. | 23Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening. |
O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. | 24How countless are your works, LORD! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. |
Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both large and small. | 25Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number--living things both large and small. |
See the ships sailing along, and Leviathan, which you made to play in the sea. | 26There the ships move about, and Leviathan, which you formed to play there. |
They all depend on you to give them food as they need it. | 27All of them wait for you to give them their food at the right time. |
When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied. | 28When you give it to them, they gather it; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. |
But if you turn away from them, they panic. When you take away their breath, they die and turn again to dust. | 29When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. |
When you give them your breath, life is created, and you renew the face of the earth. | 30When you send your breath, they are created, and you renew the surface of the ground. |
May the glory of the LORD continue forever! The LORD takes pleasure in all he has made! | 31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works. |
The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains smoke at his touch. | 32He looks at the earth, and it trembles; he touches the mountains, and they pour out smoke. |
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! | 33I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live. |
May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD. | 34May my meditation be pleasing to him; I will rejoice in the LORD. |
Let all sinners vanish from the face of the earth; let the wicked disappear forever. Let all that I am praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! | 35May sinners vanish from the earth and wicked people be no more. My soul, bless the LORD! Hallelujah! |
