New King James Version | New Living Translation |
A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. | 1I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. |
O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. | 2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. |
O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. | 3You brought me up from the grave, O LORD. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. |
Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. | 4Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. |
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. | 5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. |
Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.” | 6When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” |
LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled. | 7Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered. |
I cried out to You, O LORD; And to the LORD I made supplication: | 8I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying, |
“What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? | 9“What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness? |
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me; LORD, be my helper!” | 10Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.” |
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, | 11You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, |
To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. | 12that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever! |
