A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. | 1A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. Of David. I will exalt you, LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. |
O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. | 2LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. |
O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. | 3You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. |
Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. | 4Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. |
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. | 5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. |
Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.” | 6When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." |
LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled. | 7LORD, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. |
I cried out to You, O LORD; And to the LORD I made supplication: | 8To you, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: |
“What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? | 9"What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? |
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me; LORD, be my helper!” | 10Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me; LORD, be my help." |
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, | 11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, |
To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. | 12that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever. |
