New King James Version | New Living Translation |
A Psalm of David. To You I will cry, O LORD my Rock: Do not be silent to me, Lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. | 1I pray to you, O LORD, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die. |
Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. | 2Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary. |
Do not take me away with the wicked And with the workers of iniquity, Who speak peace to their neighbors, But evil is in their hearts. | 3Do not drag me away with the wicked— with those who do evil— those who speak friendly words to their neighbors while planning evil in their hearts. |
Give them according to their deeds, And according to the wickedness of their endeavors; Give them according to the work of their hands; Render to them what they deserve. | 4Give them the punishment they so richly deserve! Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness. Pay them back for all their evil deeds! Give them a taste of what they have done to others. |
Because they do not regard the works of the LORD, Nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them And not build them up. | 5They care nothing for what the LORD has done or for what his hands have made. So he will tear them down, and they will never be rebuilt! |
Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! | 6Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. |
The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. | 7The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. |
The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. | 8The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king. |
Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever. | 9Save your people! Bless Israel, your special possession. Lead them like a shepherd, and carry them in your arms forever. |
