| 1[i]A Psalm[/i] of David. To You I will cry, O LORD my Rock: Do not be silent to me, Lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. | 1LORD, I call to you; my rock, do not be deaf to me. If you remain silent to me, I will be like those going down to the Pit. |
| 2Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. | 2Listen to the sound of my pleading when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your holy sanctuary. |
| 3Do not take me away with the wicked And with the workers of iniquity, Who speak peace to their neighbors, But evil is in their hearts. | 3Do not drag me away with the wicked, with the evildoers, who speak in friendly ways with their neighbors while malice is in their hearts. |
| 4Give them according to their deeds, And according to the wickedness of their endeavors; Give them according to the work of their hands; Render to them what they deserve. | 4Repay them according to what they have done--according to the evil of their deeds. Repay them according to the work of their hands; give them back what they deserve. |
| 5Because they do not regard the works of the LORD, Nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them And not build them up. | 5Because they do not consider what the LORD has done or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and not rebuild them. |

| 8The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. | 8The LORD is the strength of his people; he is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed. |
