1To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;

1In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.

2May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion;

2May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.

3May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah

3May he remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. Interlude

4May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose.

4May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed.

5We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.

5May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all your prayers.

6Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

8They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.

8Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm.

9Save, LORD! May the King answer us when we call.
