New King James Version | NET Bible |
A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. | 1By David; a well-written song. How blessed is the one whose rebellious acts are forgiven, whose sin is pardoned! |
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. | 2How blessed is the one whose wrongdoing the LORD does not punish, in whose spirit there is no deceit. |
When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. | 3When I refused to confess my sin, my whole body wasted away, while I groaned in pain all day long. |
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah | 4For day and night you tormented me; you tried to destroy me in the intense heat of summer. (Selah) |
I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah | 5Then I confessed my sin; I no longer covered up my wrongdoing. I said, "I will confess my rebellious acts to the LORD." And then you forgave my sins. (Selah) |
For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him. | 6For this reason every one of your faithful followers should pray to you while there is a window of opportunity. Certainly when the surging water rises, it will not reach them. |
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah | 7You are my hiding place; you protect me from distress. You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance. (Selah) |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. | 8I will instruct and teach you about how you should live. I will advise you as I look you in the eye. |
Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. | 9Do not be like an unintelligent horse or mule, which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a bridle and bit. |
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. | 10An evil person suffers much pain, but the LORD's faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in him. |
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart! | 11Rejoice in the LORD and be happy, you who are godly! Shout for joy, all you who are morally upright! |
