New King James VersionNET Bible
Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said:1Then the LORD answered Job:
“Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.”2"Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!"
Then Job answered the LORD and said:3Then Job answered the LORD:
“Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.4"Indeed, I am completely unworthy--how could I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth to silence myself.
Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”5I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more."
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:6Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:
“Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me:7"Get ready for a difficult task like a man. I will question you and you will inform me!
“Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?8Would you indeed annul my justice? Would you declare me guilty so that you might be right?
Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?9Do you have an arm as powerful as God's, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty.10Adorn yourself, then, with majesty and excellency, and clothe yourself with glory and honor!
Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him.11Scatter abroad the abundance of your anger. Look at every proud man and bring him low;
Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place.12Look at every proud man and abase him; crush the wicked on the spot!
Hide them in the dust together, Bind their faces in hidden darkness.13Hide them in the dust together, imprison them in the grave.
Then I will also confess to you That your own right hand can save you.14Then I myself will acknowledge to you that your own right hand can save you.
“Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.15"Look now at Behemoth, which I made as I made you; it eats grass like the ox.
See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles.16Look at its strength in its loins, and its power in the muscles of its belly.
He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.17It makes its tail stiff like a cedar, the sinews of its thighs are tightly wound.
His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron.18Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like bars of iron.
He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword.19It ranks first among the works of God, the One who made it has furnished it with a sword.
Surely the mountains yield food for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.20For the hills bring it food, where all the wild animals play.
He lies under the lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh.21Under the lotus trees it lies, in the secrecy of the reeds and the marsh.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade; The willows by the brook surround him.22The lotus trees conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream conceal it.
Indeed the river may rage, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,23If the river rages, it is not disturbed, it is secure, though the Jordan should surge up to its mouth.
Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare.24Can anyone catch it by its eyes, or pierce its nose with a snare?
