Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When a man consecrates by a vow certain persons to the LORD, according to your valuation, | 2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation. |
if your valuation is of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old, then your valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. | 3And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. |
If it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels; | 4And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels. |
and if from five years old up to twenty years old, then your valuation for a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels; | 5And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. |
and if from a month old up to five years old, then your valuation for a male shall be five shekels of silver, and for a female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver; | 6And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. |
and if from sixty years old and above, if it is a male, then your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for a female ten shekels. | 7And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. |
‘But if he is too poor to pay your valuation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall set a value for him; according to the ability of him who vowed, the priest shall value him. | 8But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him. |
‘If it is an animal that men may bring as an offering to the LORD, all that anyone gives to the LORD shall be holy. | 9And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy. |
He shall not substitute it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he at all exchanges animal for animal, then both it and the one exchanged for it shall be holy. | 10He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy. |
If it is an unclean animal which they do not offer as a sacrifice to the LORD, then he shall present the animal before the priest; | 11And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest: |
and the priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be. | 12And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be. |
But if he wants at all to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth to your valuation. | 13But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation. |
‘And when a man dedicates his house to be holy to the LORD, then the priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand. | 14And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand. |
If he who dedicated it wants to redeem his house, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall be his. | 15And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his. |
‘If a man dedicates to the LORD part of a field of his possession, then your valuation shall be according to the seed for it. A homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver. | 16And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver. |
If he dedicates his field from the Year of Jubilee, according to your valuation it shall stand. | 17If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand. |
But if he dedicates his field after the Jubilee, then the priest shall reckon to him the money due according to the years that remain till the Year of Jubilee, and it shall be deducted from your valuation. | 18But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation. |
And if he who dedicates the field ever wishes to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall belong to him. | 19And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him. |
But if he does not want to redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed anymore; | 20And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more. |
but the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, shall be holy to the LORD, as a devoted field; it shall be the possession of the priest. | 21But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's. |
‘And if a man dedicates to the LORD a field which he has bought, which is not the field of his possession, | 22And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession; |
then the priest shall reckon to him the worth of your valuation, up to the Year of Jubilee, and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy offering to the LORD. | 23Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD. |
In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return to him from whom it was bought, to the one who owned the land as a possession. | 24In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong. |
And all your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs to the shekel. | 25And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel. |
‘But the firstborn of the animals, which should be the LORD’s firstborn, no man shall dedicate; whether it is an ox or sheep, it is the LORD’s. | 26Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD'S firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD'S. |
And if it is an unclean animal, then he shall redeem it according to your valuation, and shall add one-fifth to it; or if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation. | 27And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation. |
‘Nevertheless no devoted offering that a man may devote to the LORD of all that he has, both man and beast, or the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted offering is most holy to the LORD. | 28Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD. |
No person under the ban, who may become doomed to destruction among men, shall be redeemed, but shall surely be put to death. | 29None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death. |
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD. | 30And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD. |
If a man wants at all to redeem any of his tithes, he shall add one-fifth to it. | 31And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. |
And concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the LORD. | 32And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. |
He shall not inquire whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; and if he exchanges it at all, then both it and the one exchanged for it shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.’ ” | 33He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. |
