To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. | 1An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: Dread of God has no effect on him. |
For he flatters himself in his own eyes, When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates. | 2For with his flattering opinion of himself, he does not discover and hate his iniquity. |
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good. | 3The words from his mouth are malicious and deceptive; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good. |
He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil. | 4Even on his bed he makes malicious plans. He sets himself on a path that is not good, and he does not reject evil. |
Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 5LORD, your faithful love reaches to heaven, your faithfulness to the clouds. |
Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast. | 6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your judgments like the deepest sea. LORD, you preserve people and animals. |
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. | 7How priceless your faithful love is, God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. |
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. | 8They are filled from the abundance of your house. You let them drink from your refreshing stream. |
For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. | 9For the wellspring of life is with you. By means of your light we see light. |
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart. | 10Spread your faithful love over those who know you, and your righteousness over the upright in heart. |
Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away. | 11Do not let the foot of the arrogant come near me or the hand of the wicked drive me away. |
There the workers of iniquity have fallen; They have been cast down and are not able to rise. | 12There! The evildoers have fallen. They have been thrown down and cannot rise. |
