New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: | 1Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, |
“When a man has on the skin of his body a swelling, a scab, or a bright spot, and it becomes on the skin of his body like a leprous sore, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests. | 2“When someone has a swelling or rash or bright spot on his skin that could become an infectious skin disease, he must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons who is a priest. |
The priest shall examine the sore on the skin of the body; and if the hair on the sore has turned white, and the sore appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous sore. Then the priest shall examine him, and pronounce him unclean. | 3The priest is to examine the infection on his skin, and if the hair in the infection has turned white and the sore appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a skin disease. After the priest examines him, he must pronounce him unclean. |
But if the bright spot is white on the skin of his body, and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and its hair has not turned white, then the priest shall isolate the one who has the sore seven days. | 4If, however, the spot on his skin is white and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest shall isolate the infected person for seven days. |
And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day; and indeed if the sore appears to be as it was, and the sore has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall isolate him another seven days. | 5On the seventh day the priest is to reexamine him, and if he sees that the infection is unchanged and has not spread on the skin, the priest must isolate him for another seven days. |
Then the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day; and indeed if the sore has faded, and the sore has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only a scab, and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. | 6The priest will examine him again on the seventh day, and if the sore has faded and has not spread on the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is a rash. The person must wash his clothes and be clean. |
But if the scab should at all spread over the skin, after he has been seen by the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen by the priest again. | 7But if the rash spreads further on his skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he must present himself again to the priest. |
And if the priest sees that the scab has indeed spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is leprosy. | 8The priest will reexamine him, and if the rash has spread on the skin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; he has a skin disease. |
“When the leprous sore is on a person, then he shall be brought to the priest. | 9When anyone develops a skin disease, he must be brought to the priest. |
And the priest shall examine him; and indeed if the swelling on the skin is white, and it has turned the hair white, and there is a spot of raw flesh in the swelling, | 10The priest will examine him, and if there is a white swelling on the skin that has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling, |
it is an old leprosy on the skin of his body. The priest shall pronounce him unclean, and shall not isolate him, for he is unclean. | 11it is a chronic skin disease and the priest must pronounce him unclean. He need not isolate him, for he is unclean. |
“And if leprosy breaks out all over the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of the one who has the sore, from his head to his foot, wherever the priest looks, | 12But if the skin disease breaks out all over his skin so that it covers all the skin of the infected person from head to foot, as far as the priest can see, |
then the priest shall consider; and indeed if the leprosy has covered all his body, he shall pronounce him clean who has the sore. It has all turned white. He is clean. | 13the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has covered his entire body, he is to pronounce the infected person clean. Since it has all turned white, he is clean. |
But when raw flesh appears on him, he shall be unclean. | 14But whenever raw flesh appears on someone, he will be unclean. |
And the priest shall examine the raw flesh and pronounce him to be unclean; for the raw flesh is unclean. It is leprosy. | 15When the priest sees the raw flesh, he must pronounce him unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; it is a skin disease. |
Or if the raw flesh changes and turns white again, he shall come to the priest. | 16But if the raw flesh changes and turns white, he must go to the priest. |
And the priest shall examine him; and indeed if the sore has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him clean who has the sore. He is clean. | 17The priest will reexamine him, and if the infection has turned white, the priest is to pronounce the infected person clean; then he is clean. |
“If the body develops a boil in the skin, and it is healed, | 18When a boil appears on someone’s skin and it heals, |
and in the place of the boil there comes a white swelling or a bright spot, reddish-white, then it shall be shown to the priest; | 19and a white swelling or a reddish-white spot develops where the boil was, he must present himself to the priest. |
and if, when the priest sees it, it indeed appears deeper than the skin, and its hair has turned white, the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a leprous sore which has broken out of the boil. | 20The priest shall examine it, and if it appears to be beneath the skin and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased infection that has broken out in the boil. |
But if the priest examines it, and indeed there are no white hairs in it, and it is not deeper than the skin, but has faded, then the priest shall isolate him seven days; | 21But when the priest examines it, if there is no white hair in it, and it is not beneath the skin and has faded, the priest shall isolate him for seven days. |
and if it should at all spread over the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a leprous sore. | 22If it spreads any further on the skin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is an infection. |
But if the bright spot stays in one place, and has not spread, it is the scar of the boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. | 23But if the spot remains unchanged and does not spread, it is only the scar from the boil, and the priest shall pronounce him clean. |
“Or if the body receives a burn on its skin by fire, and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a bright spot, reddish-white or white, | 24When there is a burn on someone’s skin and the raw area of the burn becomes reddish-white or white, |
then the priest shall examine it; and indeed if the hair of the bright spot has turned white, and it appears deeper than the skin, it is leprosy broken out in the burn. Therefore the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a leprous sore. | 25the priest must examine it. If the hair in the spot has turned white and the spot appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased infection. |
But if the priest examines it, and indeed there are no white hairs in the bright spot, and it is not deeper than the skin, but has faded, then the priest shall isolate him seven days. | 26But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the spot, and it is not beneath the skin but has faded, the priest shall isolate him for seven days. |
And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day. If it has at all spread over the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a leprous sore. | 27On the seventh day the priest is to reexamine him, and if it has spread further on the skin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased infection. |
But if the bright spot stays in one place, and has not spread on the skin, but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn. The priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is the scar from the burn. | 28But if the spot is unchanged and has not spread on the skin but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn, and the priest is to pronounce him clean; for it is only the scar from the burn. |
“If a man or woman has a sore on the head or the beard, | 29If a man or woman has an infection on the head or chin, |
then the priest shall examine the sore; and indeed if it appears deeper than the skin, and there is in it thin yellow hair, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a scaly leprosy of the head or beard. | 30the priest shall examine the infection, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a scaly outbreak, an infectious disease of the head or chin. |
But if the priest examines the scaly sore, and indeed it does not appear deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall isolate the one who has the scale seven days. | 31But if the priest examines the scaly infection and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, the priest shall isolate the infected person for seven days. |
And on the seventh day the priest shall examine the sore; and indeed if the scale has not spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and the scale does not appear deeper than the skin, | 32On the seventh day the priest is to reexamine the infection, and if the scaly outbreak has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it, and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, |
he shall shave himself, but the scale he shall not shave. And the priest shall isolate the one who has the scale another seven days. | 33then the person must shave himself except for the scaly area. Then the priest shall isolate him for another seven days. |
On the seventh day the priest shall examine the scale; and indeed if the scale has not spread over the skin, and does not appear deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean. He shall wash his clothes and be clean. | 34On the seventh day the priest shall examine the scaly outbreak, and if it has not spread on the skin and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, the priest is to pronounce him clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean. |
But if the scale should at all spread over the skin after his cleansing, | 35If, however, the scaly outbreak spreads further on the skin after his cleansing, |
then the priest shall examine him; and indeed if the scale has spread over the skin, the priest need not seek for yellow hair. He is unclean. | 36the priest is to examine him, and if the scaly outbreak has spread on the skin, the priest need not look for yellow hair; the person is unclean. |
But if the scale appears to be at a standstill, and there is black hair grown up in it, the scale has healed. He is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean. | 37If, however, in his sight the scaly outbreak is unchanged and black hair has grown in it, then it has healed. He is clean, and the priest is to pronounce him clean. |
“If a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of the body, specifically white bright spots, | 38When a man or a woman has white spots on the skin, |
then the priest shall look; and indeed if the bright spots on the skin of the body are dull white, it is a white spot that grows on the skin. He is clean. | 39the priest shall examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; the person is clean. |
“As for the man whose hair has fallen from his head, he is bald, but he is clean. | 40Now if a man loses his hair and is bald, he is still clean. |
He whose hair has fallen from his forehead, he is bald on the forehead, but he is clean. | 41Or if his hairline recedes and he is bald on his forehead, he is still clean. |
And if there is on the bald head or bald forehead a reddish-white sore, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead. | 42But if there is a reddish-white sore on the bald head or forehead, it is an infectious disease breaking out on it. |
Then the priest shall examine it; and indeed if the swelling of the sore is reddish-white on his bald head or on his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy on the skin of the body, | 43The priest is to examine him, and if the swelling of the infection on his bald head or forehead is reddish-white like a skin disease, |
he is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean; his sore is on his head. | 44the man is diseased; he is unclean. The priest must pronounce him unclean because of the infection on his head. |
“Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ | 45A diseased person must wear torn clothes and let his hair hang loose, and he must cover his mouth and cry out, ‘Unclean, unclean!’ |
He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp. | 46As long as he has the infection, he remains unclean. He must live alone in a place outside the camp. |
“Also, if a garment has a leprous plague in it, whether it is a woolen garment or a linen garment, | 47If any fabric is contaminated with mildew—any wool or linen garment, |
whether it is in the warp or woof of linen or wool, whether in leather or in anything made of leather, | 48any weave or knit of linen or wool, or any article of leather— |
and if the plague is greenish or reddish in the garment or in the leather, whether in the warp or in the woof, or in anything made of leather, it is a leprous plague and shall be shown to the priest. | 49and if the mark in the fabric, leather, weave, knit, or leather article is green or red, then it is contaminated with mildew and must be shown to the priest. |
The priest shall examine the plague and isolate that which has the plague seven days. | 50And the priest is to examine the mildew and isolate the contaminated fabric for seven days. |
And he shall examine the plague on the seventh day. If the plague has spread in the garment, either in the warp or in the woof, in the leather or in anything made of leather, the plague is an active leprosy. It is unclean. | 51On the seventh day the priest shall reexamine it, and if the mildew has spread in the fabric, weave, knit, or leather, then regardless of how it is used, it is a harmful mildew; the article is unclean. |
He shall therefore burn that garment in which is the plague, whether warp or woof, in wool or in linen, or anything of leather, for it is an active leprosy; the garment shall be burned in the fire. | 52He is to burn the fabric, weave, or knit, whether the contaminated item is wool or linen or leather. Since the mildew is harmful, the article must be burned up. |
“But if the priest examines it, and indeed the plague has not spread in the garment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in anything made of leather, | 53But when the priest reexamines it, if the mildew has not spread in the fabric, weave, knit, or leather article, |
then the priest shall command that they wash the thing in which is the plague; and he shall isolate it another seven days. | 54the priest is to order the contaminated article to be washed and isolated for another seven days. |
Then the priest shall examine the plague after it has been washed; and indeed if the plague has not changed its color, though the plague has not spread, it is unclean, and you shall burn it in the fire; it continues eating away, whether the damage is outside or inside. | 55After it has been washed, the priest is to reexamine it, and if the mildewed article has not changed in appearance, it is unclean. Even though the mildew has not spread, you must burn it, whether the rot is on the front or back. |
If the priest examines it, and indeed the plague has faded after washing it, then he shall tear it out of the garment, whether out of the warp or out of the woof, or out of the leather. | 56If the priest examines it and the mildew has faded after it has been washed, he must cut the contaminated section out of the fabric, leather, weave, or knit. |
But if it appears again in the garment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in anything made of leather, it is a spreading plague; you shall burn with fire that in which is the plague. | 57But if it reappears in the fabric, weave, or knit, or on any leather article, it is spreading. You must burn the contaminated article. |
And if you wash the garment, either warp or woof, or whatever is made of leather, if the plague has disappeared from it, then it shall be washed a second time, and shall be clean. | 58If the mildew disappears from the fabric, weave, or knit, or any leather article after washing, then it is to be washed again, and it will be clean. |
“This is the law of the leprous plague in a garment of wool or linen, either in the warp or woof, or in anything made of leather, to pronounce it clean or to pronounce it unclean.” | 59This is the law concerning a mildew contamination in wool or linen fabric, weave, or knit, or any leather article, for pronouncing it clean or unclean.” |
