A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. | 1A Prayer of David. Incline Your ear, O LORD, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. |
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; | 2Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. |
have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. | 3Be gracious to me, O Lord, For to You I cry all day long. |
Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. | 4Make glad the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. |
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. | 5For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. |
Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy. | 6Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And give heed to the voice of my supplications! |
When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. | 7In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You, For You will answer me. |
Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. | 8There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours. |
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. | 9All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. |
For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. | 10For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. |
Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. | 11Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. |
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. | 12I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever. |
For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. | 13For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. |
Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me-- they have no regard for you. | 14O God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a band of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them. |
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. | 15But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. |
Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did. | 16Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Oh grant Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your handmaid. |
Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. | 17Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me. |
