For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. | 1To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. |
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. | 2He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. |
How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down-- this leaning wall, this tottering fence? | 3How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. |
Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. | 4They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. |
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. | 5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. |
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. | 6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. |
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. | 7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. |
Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. | 8Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. |
Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. | 9Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. |
Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. | 10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. |
One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: "Power belongs to you, God, | 11God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. |
and with you, Lord, is unfailing love"; and, "You reward everyone according to what they have done." | 12Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. |
