By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. | 1Of David. In you, LORD my God, I put my trust. |
My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! | 2I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. |
Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. | 3No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. |
Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! | 4Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. |
Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. | 5Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. |
Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. | 6Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. |
Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! | 7Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good. |
The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. | 8Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. |
May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! | 9He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. |
The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. | 10All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. |
For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. | 11For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. |
The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. | 12Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. |
They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. | 13They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. |
The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. | 14The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. |
I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. | 15My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare. |
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! | 16Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. |
Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! | 17Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. |
See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! | 18Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. |
Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. | 19See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me! |
Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! | 20Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. |
May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! | 21May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, LORD, is in you. |
O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! | 22Deliver Israel, O God, from all their troubles! |
