| 1After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets, | 1Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. |
| 2in these last days he has spoken to us in a son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world. | 2In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him. |
| 3The Son is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word, and so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. | 3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. |
| 4Thus he became so far better than the angels as he has inherited a name superior to theirs. | 4So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs. |

| 12and like a robe you will fold them up and like a garment they will be changed, but you are the same and your years will never run out." | 12you will roll them up like a cloak, and they will be changed like clothing. But you are the same, and your years will never end. |
