Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too. | 1Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won't be tempted. |
Carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | 2Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. | 3For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else. | 4Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. |
For each one will carry his own load. | 5For each person will have to carry his own load. |
Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it. | 6Let the one who is taught the word share all his good things with the teacher. |
Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, | 7Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, |
because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. | 8because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. |
So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. | 9Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. |
So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith. | 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. |
See what big letters I make as I write to you with my own hand! | 11Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. |
Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. | 12Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For those who are circumcised do not obey the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh. | 13For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves, and yet they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. |
But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. | 14But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. |
For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! | 15For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. |
And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on the Israel of God. | 16May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy even to the Israel of God! |
From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. | 17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen. | 18Brothers and sisters, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
