Corinthians 13
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.1If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.2If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.3If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,4Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,5or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;6It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.8Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!
For we know in part and we prophesy in part;9Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!
but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.10But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.11When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.12Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.13Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
