A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God, the LORD, has spoken, And summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. | 1A Psalm of Asaph. The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. |
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth. | 2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. |
May our God come and not keep silence; Fire devours before Him, And it is very tempestuous around Him. | 3Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. |
He summons the heavens above, And the earth, to judge His people: | 4He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. |
"Gather My godly ones to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice." | 5Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. |
And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is judge. Selah. | 6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah. |
"Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify against you; I am God, your God. | 7Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God. |
"I do not reprove you for your sacrifices, And your burnt offerings are continually before Me. | 8I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me. |
"I shall take no young bull out of your house Nor male goats out of your folds. | 9I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds. |
"For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. | 10For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. |
"I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. | 11I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. |
"If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and all it contains. | 12If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. |
"Shall I eat the flesh of bulls Or drink the blood of male goats? | 13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? |
"Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving And pay your vows to the Most High; | 14Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: |
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me." | 15And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. |
But to the wicked God says, "What right have you to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? | 16But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? |
"For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you. | 17Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. |
"When you see a thief, you are pleased with him, And you associate with adulterers. | 18When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. |
"You let your mouth loose in evil And your tongue frames deceit. | 19Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. |
"You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother's son. | 20Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. |
"These things you have done and I kept silence; You thought that I was just like you; I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes. | 21These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. |
"Now consider this, you who forget God, Or I will tear you in pieces, and there will be none to deliver. | 22Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. |
"He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God." | 23Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. |
