A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David. I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me. | 1A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. |
O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. | 2O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. |
O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. | 3O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. |
Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. | 4Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. |
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. | 5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. |
Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved." | 6And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. |
O LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed. | 7LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. |
To You, O LORD, I called, And to the Lord I made supplication: | 8I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. |
"What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? | 9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? |
"Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper." | 10Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. |
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, | 11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; |
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. | 12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. |
