A Psalm of David. O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! | 1A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. |
May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering. | 2Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. |
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. | 3Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. |
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. | 4Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties. |
Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds. | 5Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities. |
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant. | 6When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. |
As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol. | 7Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. |
For my eyes are toward You, O GOD, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless. | 8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. |
Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity. | 9Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. |
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely. | 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape. |
