For the choir director; set to El Shoshannim; Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!1Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us!
O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.3Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?4O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers?
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.5You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure.
You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.6You make us an object of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.
O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.7Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!
You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.8You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.10The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches.
It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.11It sent out its branches to the sea and its shoots to the River.
Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?12Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?
A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.13The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it.
O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,14Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine,
Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.15the stock that your right hand planted, and for the son whom you made strong for yourself.
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.16They have burned it with fire; they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your face!
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.17But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself!
Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.18Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name!
O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.19Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!
