Hebrews 3
KJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleInternational Standard Version
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;1Therefore, holy brothers, partners in a heavenly calling, keep your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was in all God's household,
For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.3because he is worthy of greater glory than Moses in the same way that the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.4After all, every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;5Moses was faithful in all God's household as a servant who was to testify to what would be said later,
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.6but the Messiah was faithful as the Son in charge of God's household, and we are his household if we hold on to our courage and the hope in which we rejoice.
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice,
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:8do not harden your hearts as they did when they provoked me during the time of testing in the wilderness.
When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.9There your ancestors tested me, even though they had seen my actions
Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.10for 40 years. That is why I was indignant with that generation and said, 'They are always going astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.'
So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)11So in my anger I swore a solemn oath that they would never enter my rest."
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.12See to it, my brothers, that no evil, unbelieving heart is found in any of you, as shown by your turning away from the living God.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.13Instead, continue to encourage one another every day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin,
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;14because we are the Messiah's partners only if we hold on to our original confidence to the end.
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.15As it is said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as they did when they provoked me."
For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.16Now who heard him and provoked him? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?17And with whom was he angry for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned and whose bodies fell dead in the wilderness?
And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?18And to whom did he swear that they would never enter his rest? It was to those who disobeyed him, was it not?
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.19So we see that they were unable to enter because of their unbelief.
