A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. | 1I will exalt you, LORD, because you have lifted me up and have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me. |
O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. | 2LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you healed me. |
O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. | 3LORD, you brought me up from Sheol; you spared me from among those going down to the Pit. |
Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. | 4Sing to the LORD, you his faithful ones, and praise his holy name. |
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. | 5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor, a lifetime. Weeping may stay overnight, but there is joy in the morning. |
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. | 6When I was secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." |
LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. | 7LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain; when you hid your face, I was terrified. |
I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. | 8LORD, I called to you; I sought favor from my Lord: |
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? | 9"What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your truth? |
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. | 10LORD, listen and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper." |
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; | 11You turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, |
To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. | 12so that I can sing to you and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever. |
