1My heart is firm, God; I will sing and praise you with my whole being. | 1My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! |
2Awake, harp and lyre! I will wake up at dawn. | 2Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. |
3I will give thanks to you among the peoples, LORD! I will sing praise to you among the nations. | 3I will thank you, LORD, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. |
4For your gracious love extends to the sky, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 4For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
5May you be exalted above the heavens, God, and your glory be over all the earth. | 5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. |
6In order that those you love may be rescued, deliver with your power and answer me! | 6Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. |
7God had promised in his sanctuary: "I will triumph and divide Shechem, then I will measure the valley of Succoth! | 7God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. |
8Gilead and Manasseh belong to me, while Ephraim is my chief stronghold and Judah is my scepter. | 8Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. |
9Moab is my washbasin; I will fling my shoe on Edom and shout over Philistia." | 9But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” |
10Who will lead me to the fortified city? Who will lead me as far as Edom? | 10Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? |
11God, you have rejected us, have you not, since you did not march out with our army, God? | 11Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? |
12Give us help against the enemy, because human help is useless. | 12Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. |
13I will find strength in God, for he will trample on our foes. | 13With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. |
