1"Stop judging, so that you won't be judged,

1Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2because the way that you judge others will be the way that you will be judged, and you will be evaluated by the standard with which you evaluate others.

2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3"Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?

3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when the beam is in your own eye?

4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

6"Never give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs. Otherwise, they will trample them with their feet and then turn around and attack you."

6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7"Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you.

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8Because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened.

8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9"There isn't a person among you who would give his son a stone if he asked for bread, is there?

9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10Or if he asks for a fish, he wouldn't give him a snake, would he?

10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who keep on asking him!

11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12Therefore, whatever you want people to do for you, do the same for them, because this summarizes the Law and the Prophets."

12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13"Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the road is spacious that leads to destruction, and many people are entering by it.

13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14How narrow is the gate and how constricted is the road that leads to life, and there aren't many people who find it!"

14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15"Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are savage wolves.

15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16You will know them by their fruit. Grapes aren't gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles, are they?

16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit.

17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit.

18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire.

19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20So by their fruit you will know them."

20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21"Not everyone who keeps saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom from heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?'

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who practice evil!'"

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24"Therefore, everyone who listens to these messages of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock.

24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it did not collapse because its foundation was on the rock.

25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26"Everyone who keeps on hearing these messages of mine and never puts them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27The rain fell, the floods came, the winds blew and battered that house, and it collapsed—and its collapse was total."

27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

28When Jesus had finished saying all these things, the crowds were utterly amazed at his teaching,

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29because he was teaching them like a person who had authority, and not like their scribes.

29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
