Holman Christian Standard Bible | International Standard Version |
A psalm; a dedication song for the house. Davidic. I will exalt You, LORD, because You have lifted me up and have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me. | 1I exalt you, LORD, for you have lifted me up, and my enemies could not gloat over me. |
LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. | 2LORD, my God! I cried out to you for help and you healed me. |
LORD, You brought me up from Sheol; You spared me from among those going down to the Pit. | 3LORD, you brought me from death; you kept me alive so that I did not descend into the Pit. |
Sing to Yahweh, you His faithful ones, and praise His holy name. | 4You, his godly ones, sing to the LORD, give thanks at the mention of his holiness. |
For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor, a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning. | 5For his wrath is only momentary; yet his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may lodge for the night, but shouts of joy will come in the morning. |
When I was secure, I said," I will never be shaken." | 6As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved." |
LORD, when You showed Your favor, You made me stand like a strong mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified. | 7By your favor, LORD, you established me as a strong mountain; Then you hid your face, and I was dismayed. |
LORD, I called to You; I sought favor from my Lord:" | 8I cried out to you, LORD, and I make supplication to the Lord: |
What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your truth? | 9"What profit is there in my death if I go down to the Pit? Can dust worship you? Can it proclaim your faithfulness?" |
LORD, listen and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper." | 10Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me! LORD, help me! |
You turned my lament into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, | 11You have turned my mourning into dancing; you took off my sackcloth and clothed me with a garment of joy, |
so that I can sing to You and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise You forever. | 12so that I may sing praise to you and not remain silent. LORD, my God, I will give you thanks forever! |
