Holman Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won't be tempted. | 1Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. |
Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | 2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. | 3For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
But each person should examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else. | 4But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. |
For each person will have to carry his own load. | 5For each will have to bear his own load. |
The one who is taught the message must share all his good things with the teacher. | 6Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. |
Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, | 7Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. |
because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. | 8For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. |
So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. | 9And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. |
Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. | 10So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. |
Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. | 11See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. |
Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. | 12It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves; however, they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. | 13For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. |
But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. | 14But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. | 15For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. |
May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy to the Israel of God! | 16And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. |
From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body scars for the cause of Jesus. | 17From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. |
Brothers, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. | 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen. |
