English Standard Version | New Living Translation |
My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! | 1My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! |
Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! | 2Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. |
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. | 3I will thank you, LORD, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. |
For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 4For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! | 5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. |
That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me! | 6Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. |
God has promised in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth. | 7God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. |
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. | 8Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. |
Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” | 9But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” |
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? | 10Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? |
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. | 11Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? |
Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! | 12Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. |
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. | 13With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. |
