My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! | 1My heart is firm, God; I will sing and praise you with my whole being. |
Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! | 2Awake, harp and lyre! I will wake up at dawn. |
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. | 3I will give thanks to you among the peoples, LORD! I will sing praise to you among the nations. |
For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 4For your gracious love extends to the sky, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! | 5May you be exalted above the heavens, God, and your glory be over all the earth. |
That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me! | 6In order that those you love may be rescued, deliver with your power and answer me! |
God has promised in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth. | 7God had promised in his sanctuary: "I will triumph and divide Shechem, then I will measure the valley of Succoth! |
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. | 8Gilead and Manasseh belong to me, while Ephraim is my chief stronghold and Judah is my scepter. |
Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” | 9Moab is my washbasin; I will fling my shoe on Edom and shout over Philistia." |
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? | 10Who will lead me to the fortified city? Who will lead me as far as Edom? |
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. | 11God, you have rejected us, have you not, since you did not march out with our army, God? |
Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! | 12Give us help against the enemy, because human help is useless. |
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. | 13I will find strength in God, for he will trample on our foes. |
