Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware.1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols.2Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit.4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different ministries, but the same Lord.5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person.6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit,8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit,9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues.10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body--so also is Christ.12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and we were all given one Spirit to drink.13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Indeed, the body is not one part but many.14For the body is not one member, but many.
If the foot should say, "Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear should say, "Because I'm not an eye, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted.18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
And if they were all the same part, where would the body be?19And if they were all one member, where were the body?
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.20But now are they many members, yet but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" Or again, the head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you!"21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable.22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect,23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable,24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other.25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, various kinds of tongues.28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other tongues? Do all interpret?30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way.31But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
