Berean Study Bible | New Living Translation |
For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath. | 1O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. |
Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony. | 2Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. |
My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long? | 3I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? |
Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion. | 4Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. |
For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol? | 5For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave? |
I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. | 6I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. |
My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes. | 7My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping. | 8Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer. |
All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace. | 10May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame. |
