For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath. | 1To the chief Musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. |
Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony. | 2Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. |
My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long? | 3My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? |
Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion. | 4Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake. |
For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol? | 5For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? |
I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. | 6I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. |
My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes. | 7Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. | 9The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. |
All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace. | 10Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly. |
