And from the half-tribe of Manasseh
The half-tribe of Manasseh refers to the division of the tribe of Manasseh, one of the sons of Joseph, into two groups. One half settled on the east side of the Jordan River, while the other half settled on the west. This allocation reflects the fulfillment of the promise given to Joseph's descendants, highlighting the importance of inheritance and land distribution among the tribes of Israel. The division also underscores the unity and diversity within the nation of Israel.

they were given Taanach and Gath-rimmon
Taanach and Gath-rimmon were cities allocated to the Levites, specifically the Kohathite clan, as part of their inheritance. Taanach is located in the Jezreel Valley, a fertile and strategic area, often associated with significant biblical battles, such as those involving Deborah and Barak (Judges 5). Gath-rimmon, though less frequently mentioned, was also a Levitical city, emphasizing the provision for the Levites who served in religious duties and did not receive a territorial inheritance like the other tribes. The allocation of these cities to the Levites underscores the importance of supporting those dedicated to spiritual leadership and worship.

two cities, together with their pasturelands
The mention of pasturelands indicates the practical needs of the Levites, who required land for their livestock and sustenance. This provision ensured that the Levites could maintain their livelihood while focusing on their religious responsibilities. The inclusion of pasturelands with the cities highlights the comprehensive care God provided for the Levites, ensuring they had both a place to live and resources to sustain themselves. This arrangement reflects the broader biblical principle of God's provision for His people and the importance of supporting those who serve in ministry.

Teaching Points
God's Provision for His Servants
The allocation of cities to the Levites demonstrates God's provision for those dedicated to His service. It reminds us of the importance of supporting those in ministry today.

The Importance of Community Support
The Levites relied on the other tribes for their sustenance, illustrating the need for community and mutual support within the body of Christ.

Inheritance Beyond Material Wealth
The Levites' inheritance was not land but their service to God, teaching us to value spiritual inheritance over material possessions.

Faithfulness in Assigned Roles
Each tribe and group had specific roles and responsibilities. This encourages us to be faithful in the roles God has assigned to us, whether in ministry, work, or family.

Unity Among God's People
The distribution of cities among the tribes highlights the unity and interdependence of God's people, a principle that applies to the church today.Verse 25. - Tanach. The same as the Taanach before mentioned, Joshua 12:21. In 1 Chronicles 6:70 (56 Hebrews text) we have Eth-aner, an obvious blunder, as the Hebrew shows, Resh having been read for Hheth, and Aleph having been inserted to form the Eth of the accusative ease. This reading existed, however, as far back as the LXX. version. Gath-rimmon. There is a blunder also here, where Gath-rimmon has crept in by the mistake of a copyist from the last verse. The true reading is preserved in 1 Chronicles 6:70, where we find Ibleam (see Joshua 17:11), or as it is there written Bileam; no doubt by mistake; the Hebrew letters (omitting the Jod, which has dropped out), being those that compose the familiar name of Balaam the prophet. The LXX. reads Jebath here.
