1Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble? 1לָמָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תַּעֲמֹ֣ד בְּרָח֑וֹק תַּ֝עְלִ֗ים לְעִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה׃
2In pride the wicked pursue the needy; let them be caught in the schemes they devise. 2בְּגַאֲוַ֣ת רָ֭שָׁע יִדְלַ֣ק עָנִ֑י יִתָּפְשׂ֓וּ ׀ בִּמְזִמּ֖וֹת ז֣וּ חָשָֽׁבוּ׃
3For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD. 3כִּֽי־ הִלֵּ֣ל רָ֭שָׁע עַל־ תַּאֲוַ֣ת נַפְשׁ֑וֹ וּבֹצֵ֥עַ בֵּ֝רֵ֗ךְ נִ֘אֵ֥ץ ׀ יְהוָֽה׃
4In his pride the wicked [man] does not seek [Him]; in all his schemes there is no God. 4רָשָׁ֗ע כְּגֹ֣בַהּ אַ֭פּוֹ בַּל־ יִדְרֹ֑שׁ אֵ֥ין אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים כָּל־ מְזִמּוֹתָֽיו׃
5He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes. 5יָ֘חִ֤ילוּ [דרכו] (דְרָכָ֨יו ׀) בְּכָל־ עֵ֗ת מָר֣וֹם מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶיךָ מִנֶּגְדּ֑וֹ כָּל־ צ֝וֹרְרָ֗יו יָפִ֥יחַ בָּהֶֽם׃
6He says to himself, “I shall not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.” 6אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭לִבּוֹ בַּל־ אֶמּ֑וֹט לְדֹ֥ר וָ֝דֹ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־ בְרָֽע׃
7His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and violence; trouble and malice are under his tongue. 7אָלָ֤ה פִּ֣יהוּ מָ֭לֵא וּמִרְמ֣וֹת וָתֹ֑ךְ תַּ֥חַת לְ֝שׁוֹנ֗וֹ עָמָ֥ל וָאָֽוֶן׃
8He lies in wait near the villages; in ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in stealth for the helpless. 8יֵשֵׁ֤ב ׀ בְּמַאְרַ֬ב חֲצֵרִ֗ים בַּֽ֭מִּסְתָּרִים יַהֲרֹ֣ג נָקִ֑י עֵ֝ינָ֗יו לְֽחֵלְכָ֥ה יִצְפֹּֽנוּ׃
9He lies in wait like a lion in a thicket; he lurks to seize the oppressed; he catches the lowly in his dragnet. 9יֶאֱרֹ֬ב בַּמִּסְתָּ֨ר ׀ כְּאַרְיֵ֬ה בְסֻכֹּ֗ה יֶ֭אֱרֹב לַחֲט֣וֹף עָנִ֑י יַחְטֹ֥ף עָ֝נִ֗י בְּמָשְׁכ֥וֹ בְרִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃
10They are crushed and beaten down; the hapless fall prey to his strength. 10[ודכה] (יִדְכֶּ֥ה) יָשֹׁ֑חַ וְנָפַ֥ל בַּ֝עֲצוּמָ֗יו [חלכאים] (חֵ֣יל) (כָּאִֽים׃)
11He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.” 11אָמַ֣ר בְּ֭לִבּוֹ שָׁ֣כַֽח אֵ֑ל הִסְתִּ֥יר פָּ֝נָ֗יו בַּל־ רָאָ֥ה לָנֶֽצַח׃
12Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless. 12קוּמָ֤ה יְהוָ֗ה אֵ֭ל נְשָׂ֣א יָדֶ֑ךָ אַל־ תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח [עניים] (עֲנָוִֽים׃)
13Why has the wicked man renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call [me] to account.” 13עַל־ מֶ֤ה ׀ נִאֵ֖ץ רָשָׁ֥ע ׀ אֱלֹהִ֑ים אָמַ֥ר בְּ֝לִבּ֗וֹ לֹ֣א תִּדְרֹֽשׁ׃
14But You have regarded trouble and grief; You consider it to take in hand. The victim entrusts himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless. 14רָאִ֡תָה כִּֽי־ אַתָּ֤ה ׀ עָ֘מָ֤ל וָכַ֨עַס ׀ תַּבִּיט֮ לָתֵ֪ת בְּיָ֫דֶ֥ךָ עָ֭לֶיךָ יַעֲזֹ֣ב חֵלֶ֑כָה יָ֝ת֗וֹם אַתָּ֤ה ׀ הָיִ֬יתָ עוֹזֵֽר׃
15Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness into account until none is left to find. 15שְׁ֭בֹר זְר֣וֹעַ רָשָׁ֑ע וָ֝רָ֗ע תִּֽדְרוֹשׁ־ רִשְׁע֥וֹ בַל־ תִּמְצָֽא׃
16The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations will vanish from His land. 16יְהוָ֣ה מֶ֭לֶךְ עוֹלָ֣ם וָעֶ֑ד אָבְד֥וּ ג֝וֹיִ֗ם מֵֽאַרְצֽוֹ׃
17You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear, 17תַּאֲוַ֬ת עֲנָוִ֣ים שָׁמַ֣עְתָּ יְהוָ֑ה תָּכִ֥ין לִ֝בָּ֗ם תַּקְשִׁ֥יב אָזְנֶֽךָ׃
18to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more. 18לִשְׁפֹּ֥ט יָת֗וֹם וָ֫דָ֥ךְ בַּל־ יוֹסִ֥יף ע֑וֹד לַעֲרֹ֥ץ אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ מִן־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃
