New Living Translation | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. | 1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. |
This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. | 2I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" |
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. | 3For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. |
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. | 4He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. |
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. | 5You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; |
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. | 6Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. |
Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. | 7A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. |
Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. | 8You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. |
If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, | 9For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. |
no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. | 10No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. |
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. | 11For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. |
They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. | 12They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. |
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! | 13You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. |
The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. | 14"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. |
When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. | 15"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. |
I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” | 16"With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation." |
