New Living Translation | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. | 1For the choir director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! |
You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. | 2From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength Because of Your adversaries, To make the enemy and the revengeful cease. |
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— | 3When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; |
what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? | 4What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? |
Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. | 5Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! |
You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— | 6You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, |
the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, | 7All sheep and oxen, And also the beasts of the field, |
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. | 8The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas. |
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! | 9O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth! |
