New Living Translation | King James Bible |
I pray to you, O LORD, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die. | 1A Psalm of David. Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. |
Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary. | 2Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. |
Do not drag me away with the wicked— with those who do evil— those who speak friendly words to their neighbors while planning evil in their hearts. | 3Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts. |
Give them the punishment they so richly deserve! Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness. Pay them back for all their evil deeds! Give them a taste of what they have done to others. | 4Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. |
They care nothing for what the LORD has done or for what his hands have made. So he will tear them down, and they will never be rebuilt! | 5Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. |
Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. | 6Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. |
The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. | 7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. |
The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king. | 8The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. |
Save your people! Bless Israel, your special possession. Lead them like a shepherd, and carry them in your arms forever. | 9Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever. |
