New Living Translation | English Standard Version |
You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor. | 1O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. |
You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles. | 2You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. |
You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling. | 3You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. |
But you have raised a banner for those who fear you— a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude | 4You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah |
Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. | 5That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us! |
God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. | 6God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth. |
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. | 7Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. |
But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” | 8Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” |
Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? | 9Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? |
Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? | 10Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies. |
Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. | 11Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! |
With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. | 12With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. |
